BATHROOM BONDS

Millie Inglis, 27, found herself in an all too familiar last night: waiting in line at the women’s bathroom at Fat Eddie’s Bar in Christchurch, desperately trying to hold it together after a few too many at the bar.

Standing in front of her in the line was another 27-year-old woman, Emma Yates, someone who she had never met, but became instantly connected to just because they were waiting for the toilet together.

“I swear we looked at each other and it was like, I need to be friends with this girl,” Millie later recounted, clearly slurring her words. “Like, I just knew. You know what I mean?”

Emma, equally tipsy said to MIllie, “How long is this gonna take, like, why do we always end up in the bathroom line forever haha?”

Millie, whose patience had already been worn thin by a night of overpriced cocktails, nodded but warmly drew to Emma for no reason. “Honestly, I’m so over it. We should totally leave and go to McDonald’s, but this line is, like, so deep.”

“What’s your Insta? We have to add each other,” Millie pleaded.

Emma didn’t hesitate. “Of course, babe! Here, let me type it in for you. We should catch up sometime!” giggled Emma, acting like she was with a lifelong friend she had in fact only known for 30 seconds.

More to come.
This story was brought to you by the good bastards at Fat Bastard Pies. Order some of their hefty pies online and have them delivered fresh overnight, anywhere in NZ.
