ABSOLUTE STITCH UP

All Blacks loose forward Ardie Savea has been receiving consolations rather than congratulations in his messages this morning.

Instead of being inundated with well-wishes about being nominated for World Rugby Player Of The Year, the ABs powerhouse was instead getting messages which were critical of World Rugby’s obvious snub.

“That’s such bulls**t bro,” one Whatsapp message to Savea’s phone read.

Savea was not even named as one of the four nominees for the award, despite being the All Blacks’ most consistent performer in what has been an average side this year.

Making his omission more strange, the 29 year-old has been widely praised by many of the opposition players he faced in 2022, and was frequently referred to as the ‘best player in the world right now’ by many commentators from opposing countries.

Our reporters were privy to more of Savea’s messages.

“Seriously man? I thought they would just straight up name you as World Player Of The Year? Not even one of the top four though? What were World Rugby watching?”

“Honestly. Were they watching your games blindfolded or something?” read another message.

While many UK pundits will be laughing at Savea’s name not being put down in the top four, they won’t be laughing so much when their beloved England side fail to put him down on the field this weekend.

More to come.
