THERE IF HE NEEDS THEM
A 30 year old man with an okay-paying job brushed off claims this morning that he is in fact wasting his money on streaming platforms he doesn’t even use.
Nathan Burnham, an Auckland-based designer says that they don’t even cost that much and “it’s good to know they’re there if I need them”.
“I’m a pretty busy guy and so I spend a lot of time working, going to events and doing various social sports in the evenings. So I don’t get that much time to sit on the couch. I’ll watch the odd thing on Netflix if people are talking about something new,” he said as he scrolled his phone on the couch.
While he only gets the “basic plans”, Nathan is likely spending around $40 a month across Netflix, Neon and Disney for basically no reason at all.
“Hey look it’s still good to know that I’ve got them there in case I need something to watch in my downtime. And they come out with new stuff all the time,” he said breezily.
When asked why he doesn’t just stick to some of the free streaming services since he doesn’t watch anything anyway, Nathan seemed to be emphatically against the idea.
“Ohh nah the free stuff is just lower quality. Nothing much worth watching on TVNZ or Three. You get what you pay for as they say,” he said, despite the fact that he is literally getting nothing for the $40 he pays every month.
“Anyway the subscriptions I have aren’t that much over a whole month.”
