A 35-year-old Christchurch man’s television has reportedly begun what is expected to be a year-long stay in his garage, before it will eventually be transferred to the rubbish dump once its owner admits that’s the only place for it.
The television, which was replaced by a newer model this week, has taken residence in a corner of Chris Jennings’ and his partner Talia’s garage, where it will stay indefinitely.
“We’ll keep it in the garage for now, until we work out what to do with it. We could put it on Trademe and get some money for it,” lied Talia, knowing perfectly well that no one wants to buy a 10 year old used TV.
Chris, meanwhile, insists the television’s future will be decided when the time is right.
“Yeah, I’ll get around to it. I’ve just been pretty busy lately. So many other things around the house that need doing” he said vaguely, not admitting that the TV will definitely be going to the dump eventually and there’s no other option for it.
When explicitly asked why they don’t just skip the year-long stay in the garage and take the TV straight to the dump now, Talia immediately jumped on the defensive.
“What?? It still goes! You can’t just take a perfectly good TV to the dump, someone might want it!” she exclaimed, denying reality completely.
“We’ll put it on Trademe next week!”
The television was last seen in it’s new spot in the garage, now with the beginnings of a spiderweb attached to it.
