IT ALL ADDS UP
29-year-old comms advisor Lauren Campbell is feeling like a ‘super saver’ today, as she forwent her usual trip to the foodcourt for lunch, opting instead for leftovers from dinner.
“I was listening to a podcast about managing money last night, and just got inspired to pack my lunch ready for work the next day. Feels great!” exclaimed Ms. Campbell, who has never felt so organised before in her adult life.
Campbell would typically spend anywhere between ten and fifteen dollars per day on lunch, so this is quite a shift. “If I keep this up I’m going to save so much money. Who knew that preparing and bringing food that was cooked from ingredients from the supermarket would be so much cheaper than buying meals?”
The advisor from MBIE, who is either being paid very well or is just used to spending recklessly, believes she has turned over a new leaf after just one day of being fiscally responsible.
“Yup, I’ve turned things around for sure. Got my eye on a new car and I’m going to get there next year!” she said confidently, ignoring the fact that discipline has never been her strong point, something that her barely-touched City Fitness card knows better than anyone.
“I had a lovely stir fry leftover from dinner last night and it was just as good heated up in the microwave!” she revealed, apparently not realising that microwaves are very common in workplace break areas.
While Campbell is very confident, colleague Hannah does not believe she has changed at all. “Lauren will be back at that foodcourt by tomorrow, mark my words,” she declared unsupportively.
“I want her to get her life in order, I really do. But I just can’t see it happening sorry”.
More to come.
