IT’S COMING HOME

Crusaders fans may just be getting ahead of themselves after their team’s comprehensive win last night.

This season’s dweller’s of the bottom of the Super Rugby table delivered a 39-0 drubbing of the fourth placed Melbourne Rebels in Christchurch.

“Did you see the way we demolished the Rebels? It was like watching the All Blacks at their peak! It’s only going to get better from here!” said diehard Crusaders fan Mick Braggins, who had turned a blind eye to the previous eight weeks of rugby.

Despite the fact that the Crusaders had only managed to clinch one win prior to this game and were still firmly entrenched at the bottom of the league standings, fans across the city were suddenly gripped by a feverish optimism bordering on delusion.

“We’re not just aiming for the playoffs; we’re eyeing up the whole darn title!” said Sharron Whyte with her face adorned with Crusaders face paint and a gleaming replica trophy in hand.

“I can’t wait for their victory parade on the tram through central Christchurch. Eight in a row! It’s coming home!”

More to come.
