WILDEST DREAMS
The Government has announced it will investigate whether Eden Park’s strict concert limits are “holding back New Zealand’s economic destiny” or, as Prime Minister Christopher Luxon put it, “making it harder to get Taylor Swift here.”
Speaking at his weekly post-Cabinet press conference, Luxon said the current cap of 12 concerts at Eden Park in Auckland isn’t enough and confirmed his government would consider changes.
“What I will say is these are things we’ve gotta say yes to,” Luxon declared, “because I don’t want to miss out on Taylor. I mean… miss out on… the opportunity for economic growth, obviously,” Luxon explained to reporters.
Luxon has made no secret of his devotion to the pop megastar. Last month he posted a widely mocked video congratulating Swift and Travis Kelce on their engagement, with the hope the two would get married in New Zealand and have their honeymoon here as well.
“The trouble is, New Zealand doesn’t have enough concerts. And not enough Taylor Swift concerts specifically.
“We deserve Taylor. Taylor deserves New Zealand. And frankly, I deserve to see her perform here. That’s all I’m saying.”
In an attempt to double down on luring Swift to our shores, Luxon today posted a photo on X of himself and his daughter at an Ed Sheeran show in a very clear attempt to make the mega star jealous.
“Concerts are one of the best Dad-daughter activities I can think of. Here’s me and Olivia at Ed Sheeran a few years back.
“The trouble is, New Zealand doesn’t have enough concerts,” Luxon posted, secretly hoping Taylor Swift is following his content closely.
More to come.
