ABANDONED

Thousands of Blues supporters who have been riding the wave of their team’s success this season, have now effectively ghosted their own beloved team.

Nothing was more telling than the bandwagon with Blues logos and flags that was found abandoned and burnt out on the side of the road near Christchurch Airport.

The abandonment comes after the Blues were annihilated 52-15  by the Crusaders in their semi-final last night, with the 13-time champions marching their way to yet another Super Rugby final.

Most Blues supporters had vanished into thin air, and were not even willing to comprehend what had transpired at Christchurch’s OrangeTheory Stadium.

Stu Hawkins, 69, who came across the burnt out carriage on State Highway 1, explained his thoughts on the burnt out wreck.

“More and more people started to jump on the Blues bandwagon with each win this season, hoping they’d finally lift a Super Rugby title for the first time in 20 years. But gee after that blitzing last night, I can see why they jumped off as quickly as they did.

“Not only had the wheels fallen off, but the wagon had been wrecked and lit on fire to hide any evidence of that horrific Blues performance ever happening.”

More to come.
