AERIAL ASSAULT
The New Zealand women’s football team have been spotted training for a very likely scenario in their opening Olympic Games match against Canada in a few hours.
The Football Ferns were spied on twice over the past few days by Canadian staff members, who were caught using drones, and the Kiwis have now been practising heading them out of the air.
“We want our team prepared for anything, even if it comes buzzing out of the sky,” remarked head coach Jitka Klimková with a twinkle in her eye.
“If they can handle a drone, they can handle any cross that comes their way.”
As a result of the Canadians spying, their team has been thrust into chaos, with their head coach being stood down for the game and two staff members, including the assistant coach, being sent home in disgrace.
“We want our team to be ready for anything, and I mean anything,” Klimková said, chuckling.
“If they can knock a drone out of the sky, just imagine what they can do to a football.”
More to come.
