Green MP Tamatha Paul has today announced her boldest career move yet, launching a new property management company dedicated to helping her colleagues in parliament manage their investments.

The new venture Green House Management will specialise in managing rental properties for her fellow MPs, keeping their tenants in check and also making sure nobody accidentally claims they own a house they don’t actually own.

“I’ve spent a lot of time talking about property, landlords, mortgages and who owns what and where, so I thought now is the right time to go into business for myself,” Paul said to our reporters.

Paul said her new business would offer a comprehensive range of services, including property inspections, tenant management, rent collection and confidently identifying which MPs actually own houses.

“If there’s a question about which MP owns a property, we’ll get to the bottom of it. Well, I will. If I don’t, then I’ll just make it up,” Paul told our reporters while carrying around a clipboard with authority.

Asked whether clients could expect their properties to be correctly identified, Paul said the company would “make every effort to do so”.

The announcement comes after Paul recently incorrectly claimed in Parliament that National MP Grant McCallum had purchased a Wellington house so he could take advantage of an accommodation allowance.

McCallum subsequently corrected the record, explaining that the property he had bought was in Paihia and was not being rented out, and since then, three more MPs have said Paul falsely accused them of buying properties after the Government’s changes to property taxes.

Early reviews of Paul’s new company  have been mixed but she was resolute when defending her company.

“We take property management seriously. Before we manage your house, we’ll make sure we’ve actually found it.”

More to come.
